Like "Pride and Prejudice," the goal of marriage is indeed achieved by the end of the book and the reader is left satisfied. Some books demand a followup - and writers are often asked whether they plan a sequel to their books - but "The Rosie Project" was not one of them. It was a pleasure to live inside Don's head (and to be able to escape it too!) and the reader rooted for Don and his most unsuitable candidate, Rosie, to have their unlikely happy ending. The book was charming and laugh-out-loud funny. "The Rosie Project" followed genetics professor Don Tillman as he embarked on a diligent project to find a wife - complete with a 16-page questionnaire to weed out unsuitable candidates.ĭon is professionally successful but it quickly becomes evident that he is socially inept and is likely on the autism spectrum. Published in the spring of 2013, "The Rosie Project" was a runaway success that was a favourite among critics (this one included) and readers alike. There are books that get passed along by word of mouth as a great fun read: "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" is a recent example of such a book, and "The Rosie Project," by Graeme Simsion, is another.
